Liberty School District promotes trust as one of its foundational values. Yet, trust in our district leadership is in short supply because the board and administration continue to try to operate in darkness.
When trust in the community breaks down, animosity and hostility ensues. Parents and the community entrust Liberty schools with the privilege to educate their children in classrooms paid for by their taxes.
Parents have the right to know what their children are learning and what curriculum are used in the Liberty school district classroom.
Trust is eroded when school institutions do not respect parents, or worse, presume to know better than parents what their children need. We must have district leaders who abide by the Arizona Parents Bill of Rights – which ensures that parents understand what their children are learning, are confident that their children are being prepared for college and careers, and are respected when they voice their concerns.
Liberty 25 should be a safe haven to parents who are respected for who they are, the makers of the next generation of people who will one day take leadership roles. Therefore, I have and intend to continue to respect every parent and prioritize their desires over special interest groups.
Parents send their children to school to be educated in core subject matters. Our students must come first, and our Governing Board needs to refocus efforts on assuring academic achievement goals are met.
The role of Liberty schools is to academically prepare our children so they become responsible adults who can compete and live responsibly in the real world.
Let’s get back to strengthening our students in the basics of STEM science, technology, reading, writing, and math and continue to keep divisive ideologies and political propaganda out of the classrooms.
Michael Todd and Bryan Cirrincione will continue to work on District Efficiencies and remove non essential programs that remove money from the classroom. This last year, the Board under Mr. Todd's leadership removed costly behavior and mental health positions and added six new reading interventionists to the classroom to improve reading an writing skills in K-3.
The Board has also put new resources towards federal and State grant dollars to the District that realized over 2.5 million dollars in funding for much needed maintenance and repairs to the Schools.
The number one job of a School Board is proficiency in ELA, Math and Science. The current board under Mr. Todds leadership has continued to support the newly introduced Phonics curriculum adding many new interventionist positions in K-3, seeing accelerated increases in reading and comprehension proficiency.
Mr. Todd and Mr. Cirrincione, is focused this School year on drastically improving Math curriculum and proficiency.
